Hey Reader ! Last week I shared a little bit about my current fitness journey on IG, and how I was able to lose about 20 pounds over the last 3 months. What I didn’t share was how for many of those weeks of working out, fueling my body properly in a moderate caloric deficit, and regulating my nervous system/ resting it felt like nothing was happening… My weight often stalled or went up slightly (and continues to do that!), I would look in the mirror and not notice any changes, and my workouts from week to week often felt just as hard, like I wasn’t getting any stronger. That can be really frustrating…. But despite all of that I kept going anyway. When this happens, a lot of women tend to give up, or switch up their workout routine or nutrition on a whim. I’m here to encourage you not to do that. Trusting the process and staying the course is the best thing you can do for your strength and fitness progress. #1 Sign you’re trusting the process If I had given up on my program whenever I saw the scale stall or go up, I wouldn’t have made all the progress I’ve made. So this is your reminder to keep going! How often should you lift? I just had a convo in the DMs about this and I get this question often, so I addressed it in a very quick video. How many days per week should women be strength training? The answer is going to vary from woman to woman depending on their lifestyle and goals. I break this down in the caption, but generally anywhere from 2-4 lifting sessions per week will ensure noticeable strength and physique changes. 360 Core Training Core training is more than just crunches and sit ups. There are actually a handful of different type of core exercises you should do to build a stronger, more resilient core that supports all other movements. Check out this reel to take a 360 approach to core training. I’m going to continue posting strength training 101 videos on IG, so if there is a topic you’d like me to cover, let me know! Hey Reader, Let’s get into this week: The Warm Up This work week was insane. I finally got my first workout in yesterday (Wednesday) — and sometimes it be like that. I missed two workouts earlier in the week after getting stuck in front of a computer for a week and a half straight. I eased into yesterday's session, and it felt so good to move my body again. Picking up where you left off counts as a win. This Week's Lift: Home vs. Gym Workouts One of the most common questions I get from women...
Hey Reader, Back in college, I used to spend 2+ hours in the gym almost every day. My only goal: burn as many calories as possible. Endless cardio, session after session, chasing a number on a machine screen I never got the body I actually wanted. What did? Strength training. Let me explain why it works when everything else feels like spinning your wheels — especially once you're past 30. Cardio burns calories. Strength training builds you. When you lift, you're not just burning energy in the...
